Date Night Braised Paprika Chicken

Creamy paprika chicken with lots of flavor, is the perfect dish to serve for a date night.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes


  • 2 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Large Onion, Finely diced
  • Sugar, Pinch of sugar
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Paprika
  • 1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 2 tsp Thyme, Fresh
  • 1 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Herbs Dill or Parsley, Finely chopped


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

Heat oil and butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions and sprinkle with sugar. Cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are very soft and light brown.

    Stir in bell peppers, tomato paste, paprika, and crushed red pepper. Add the chicken to the onion mixture. Then add the fresh thyme and chicken broth.

    • Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook in the oven for 35- 40 minutes.

    Just before the chicken is done, remove and shred the pieces, then add the sour cream.

      Garnished with parsley or dill.


        • 1 Dutch Oven, 6-7 quart


        Serve with mash potatoes or egg noodles.
